appreciate him as a producer under big hit entertainment. thank him for being a contributor to some of bts’s most memorable bops, such as baepsae and the cyphers. enjoy his verse in HANGSANG on j-hope’s mixtape (except the last line, which i’ll explain soon enough).
but please, please, do not idolize supreme boi.
supreme boi just name-dropped rockbottom crew, his rap crew outside of big hit, in the last line of his verse in HANGSANG. the problem with this is that rockbottom crew houses some very problematic artists with troubling ties to sexual assault and a drug scandal. namely, supreme boi once co-wrote a song with kidoh and iron on a rape fantasy, a situation none of the artists provided an acceptable apology for. iron in particular has even been convicted for a severe case of domestic abuse and attempted rape. these are the types of people supreme boi not only interacts with, but fully supports and endorses. (the fact that big hit entertainment authorized this reference to rockbottom crew despite careful screenings of bts’s music is also worrying, but that can be covered in another post.)
as a producer, supreme boi deserves credit for his work on bts’s albums, and nothing more. don’t place him on a pedestal just because he’s doing his job.
(i made this post because i noticed growing support for supreme boi after the release of hixtape - some fans went as far as calling supreme boi “practically a member of bts in every way except physically”. i just wanted to clear things up, because that is an association to bts i wouldn’t want to be making.)
